About Mara

I've written as far back as I can remember - mostly short stories for myself and friends. When I found myself captivated by BBC WW2 documentary, I followed one "what if..." after another until my first book emerged.

City of Spies was a labour of love.  I enjoyed the role of my (fictitious) agent and was fascinated by the role Portugal played in the war.  

By the end of City of Spies, it was clear to me that Cécile was demanding another mission, and so Resistance happened.  

While my characters and novels are fiction, they are based, as much as possible, on the history of the time, and I hope you enjoy reading about them as much as I enjoyed creating them!

I'm currently working on the 3rd Elisabeth de Mornay book.
